It's also apparently dead in the sense that Compaq hasn't been 
putting any significant resources into keeping the development going. 
The workstations we have were first introduced over two years ago, 
and today guess what?  They are no faster than they were then. 
Compaq is still selling them at the same speed!  But they are still 
fast.

Obviously.  Of course, you could as well use the same logic you used 
for the Alpha: "PA-RISC isn't dead, it's part of IA-64", right?
