Alpha isn't dead.  It's just owned by Intel now, and so you might see 
bits of it in some future ia64 chip.

HP has no interest in their own RISC future (PA-RISC).  All their forward
plans look to ia64.  MIPS is happily running in embedded devices, which is
really where the processor architecture has the most flexibility.
