[Am-info] Forced to use MS Office

For years I've been happily using an advanced wordprocessing tool
know as vee-eye (vi), even to do html. I use tgif for drawings.

Owing to a recent merger my group has been COMPELLED to use MS
word to create SW design docs. Never mind that I can't run Word
on my linux work station. Never mind that it will take time to
get it running and cost money to pay for Windows and Office licenses.

Why? Because the engineers we've been merged with run Windows
and have always used office for such tasks. I've tried all the
recent and old versions of StarOffice and WordPerfect, but none
of them render the drawings generated by word97/2000 correctly.
This directive comes from my new Engineering Manager. I'm really
not free to argue this point into the ground with him so here
I am stuck.

So yes MS office is being Shoved down peoples throats.
