"A core group of Filipino programmers belonging to European-based
Linux programmers SuSE Linux is currently developing software
applications for aircraft maker Lockheed Martin, which will use the
programs to design fighter jets for the U.S. State Department's Joint
Strike Fighter (JSF) program.

The $200 billion JSF program is an ambitious 25-year plan to upgrade
the current fleet of U.S. fighter planes. Maryland-based Lockheed
Martin bagged the deal Oct. 26, beating out Boeing Corp. in a highly
anticipated announcement made by Air Force Secretary James G. Roche.

With an initial $18 billion down-payment by Pentagon, Lockheed Martin
has started off the production of the single-engine stealth aircrafts
by outsourcing Open Source solutions to German firm SuSE Linux."
