SEATTLE -- Billionaire Craig McCaw's yachting concern is suing a former
employee, saying the worker tried to sell design secrets for two racing
yachts to a rival America's Cup competitor owned by software mogul Larry
Ellison.
Ellison's team said it realized the information had been provided improperly
and reported the incident to OneWorld Challenge, McCaw's $85 million bid to
represent the United States in the 2003 America's Cup, according to papers
filed in King County Superior Court.
"The information includes, among other things, hull design, crew training,
team member eligibility and construction data," the papers said. The secrets
are "contained on papers, diskettes, and/or in John Doe's memory."
More in the article. Larry Ellison, of course, is best known of late for
paying people to dig through Microsoft's trash.
