I'm all but sure they didn't file their actual appeal yet. Jackson was
waiting until they filed their notice of appeal. I believe they get 30
days to file a notice of appeal, then they get something like 60 days to
file their brief unless they receive an extension. (This is assuming the
federal appellate rules are similar to Indiana appellate rules.)
