Yes. I suppose that is true. But, up until now Microsoft has always
claimed to be the innocent babe. Once the judge decides they are full
of crap, that all changes. Then it becomes clear that Microsoft is just
the huge elephant charging through the jungle. It appears the smart
thing to do until you reach the point where the elephant relieved
himself or turns around on you. Then you look pretty stupid.
It is harder to cut your own path. Most ISVs do not have morals, ethics
or guts to do that.
All too many just look at the money given to them in support, etc., and
ignore violations of law and poor business ethics.
The Netscape story is a lesson for those weak kneed ISVs which know no
better than simply do as Bill Gates says and stay out of key lucrative
markets.
