Dear all,
Following on the tracks of the recent public launch of UK's data.gov.uk,
there are indications that the person, who as per news reports is likely
to become EC's Commissioner for the Digital Agenda, is strongly in
favour of the use of open standards by all public organizations.

reasons, I want to explore new ways to develop ICT standards in Europe."

The European Parliament votes on 26 January on whether Kroes gets the
job in charge of the digital agenda.
