About us
IT for Change (ITfC) is an NGO working in the area of information and
communication technologies (ICTs) and social change. Our work is
entirely social and developmental, and not technical. We are involved
in action research, policy advocacy and field-based projects involving
ICTs. ITfC's research and advocacy work aims to influence the
discourse and policy spaces regarding ICTs and social change (or
information society) at global, national and local levels, seeking to
build cutting edge theoretical concepts and policy responses from a
development-oriented and pro-South standpoints. We work in areas like
ICTs for development, ICTs for governance reform, ICTs and gender,

Job requirement
IT for Change is looking for Research Associates, separately, in the
areas of (1) governance and participatory development and (2) gender
and development, to support our current and future research and
advocacy work. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new but
fast growing area of social and development research, and also combine
research, advocacy and project experience.
The role of Research Associates involves working with the Research
Director from concept design to coordination and execution of research
projects and advocacy activities. The candidate must be able to think
strategically, work independently and author outputs of very high
quality. Research Associates are expected to take on related
programmatic responsibilities in the organisation, prepare policy
briefs and communication material, undertake dissemination of research
findings for influencing change, organize national and international
meetings and workshops, and continuously endeavor to broaden the
organisation's network of allies. Candidates should be able to speak
at least one Indian language.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for thinker-activists with a drive for making change
happen and for institution building. They should be able to show a
commitment to team work and collaborative knowledge processes.
Applicants should have a PhD or a postgraduate qualification in social
sciences with at least 5 years of relevant experience in independent
research and project management. They should have a demonstrated
passion for, and expertise in, the respective areas of work =96
governance and gender. The position requires a solid theoretical
grounding in participatory and rights based development frameworks,
strong analytical and writing skills, high quality research calibre,
experience in project management and strategic communication skills
for doing advocacy in national and global spaces. While some
acquaintance with ICTs for development and information society issues
is preferable, it is not absolutely necessary for candidates with a
keen interest in learning about and building competencies in this new
and exciting field of development discourse and work.
Remuneration will be on par with comparable levels of top NGOs in India.
