Dear All,
the R2R campaign in India is now in its third phase of operation. Following
the first campaign in Chennai on 26th Sept and the second in Calcutta on 7t=
h
Nov, the R2R in Mumbai is taking on a new flavour. Instead of organising an
event like the previous two, this one is focusing on getting signatures of
hundreds of authors and publishers on a Declaration on the Right to Read.
The campaign is gathering momentum as a build up to the R2R in the capital
to be held on the first day of the world book fair at the same venue. The
signature campaign is being spear headed by Xaviers Resource Centre for the
Visually Challenged (XRCVC), which is a member organisation of the DFI.
To know more about the campaign you may link to
http://www.xrcvc.org/copyright.php#"righttoread"campaign . This link will
also lead on to a request letter for authors and publishers which can be
downloaded as a declaration form which needs to be filled up and signed. We
request all of you to please pass on this to as many authors and publishers
as you know to increase the success of the campaign. The letter has to be
signed and returned in hard copy or scanned and sent to the XRCVC address
which is there in the letter. The R2R in New Delhi will be held in the
afternoon of 30th Jan at Pragati Maidan (venue of the book fair). More
details to follow later.
Cheers and best wishes, Nirmita
