How about "fundamental rights of users of information"?
I think that it's pretty important to assert that we are
talking about a category of fundamental rights, i.e.
principles which may not be fully recognized by the legal
system (yet), but which are so fundamentally important
that there's something badly, fundamentally wrong whenever
these principles are violated.
