Statement of Egypt
SCCR 18, 25-29 May, 2009
Agenda Item 5 on Exceptions and Limitations
Egypt supports the statement made by the delegation of Senegal on
behalf of the African Group. Egypt supports the right of access to all
disabled persons, including the blind, visually impaired and other
reading disabled persons. In this regard, we will examine with all due
attention the proposal presented by Brazil, Ecuador, and Paraguay.
We underline that a global approach that is all inclusive of all
issues pertaining to guaranteeing access to knowledge, particularly
educational use, research and technology transfer, and as reflective
of the Development Agenda recommendations remains our preferred
approach.
We therefore look forward to working with the proponents and with all
other delegations and stakeholders on how to move forward with an all
inclusive approach on this issue of exceptions and limitations.
Thank you.
