Hi Malini and All
Sorry I can't come, but I'm looking forward to the account of the
meeting: I just did a post for the Educational Technology and Change
blog : <http://etcjournal.wordpress.com/2009/07/12/google-book-search-settl=
ement-unfair-to-non-us-authors/>.
It's based on my being for my sins a non-US remaining editor - and
copyright holder - of out-of-print, Google-scanned anthology my late
husband and I did in the 80's. Which means I had to grapple with the
Settlement. In a nutshell: I am not against Google having scanned the
old thing, which wasn't producing any revenue anyway, but I am very
much against some absurd conditions imposed by the IP vestals in the
Settlement.
I'll be glad to add an update that post about the brown bag's reports.
Best
Claude
