It's surprising, but it's not *only* the rule of EU law that acted here.
This decision was taken under extremely high political pressure, due to
an incredibly wide citizen action that we synchronized with our
campaign. It spread up to Slashdot, heide.de, Computer World UK, the
Pirate Bay, etc... and it's literally citizens from all member states
who contacted their MEPs seating in ITRE committe to inform them about
the stakes (some spanish EPP Member said he got 200 mails/day, but maybe
it's an underestimate!). We showed them the true face of Europe.
This was combined with action inside the parliament, within the groups
and the key convinced people, who could use this formidable citizen
movement to legitimate their position and convince their colleagues.
This is a proof that we can do it. This intense satisfaction must lead
us to be even more watchful and to act more.
