Hi folks,
we plan a protest on the following date in front of the conference
building. Additionally, a lot of people should register for the
conference itself.
Best regards,

I guess you are aware but it is crucial that all of you who are possibly
available *register* for the 19 November standards and ipr workshop of
the European Commission in Brussels. The deadline for (electronic)
registrations will be on 31. October. The event is very much biased and
is strongly dominated by non-European stakeholders. I originally thought
of it as a kind of "cold war event" where you can put forward some
constructive relative improvements over the standard policy status quo
but the Commission decided otherwise and sent a "war declaration" with
their speakers list. So please register to the conference and come if
possible. This workshop is very important for the future of EU standard
policy and the role of RAND driven policies.
There is also a possibility for written contributions of three pages
maximum.
Please register here:
http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/ict/policy/standards/ws08ipr_en.htm
I strongly recommend you to become part of the process if you are
interested in patent issues of standardisation.
The workshop program is here:
http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/ict/policy/standards/ws08ipr/agenda19nov.pdf
Please note that also Amy Marasco, General Manager standards strategy,
the responsible Microsoft person for the OSP, OOXML and the driver
behind the ITU-T definition of open standards, will be present and speak
about "Standards and IPR: A Balanced Approach"
Inter alii our friend Charles Schulz will be one of the speaker.
