Find slides and a video clip of Philippe Aigrain's very interesting
presentation in Berlin on how open access is actually changing the
nature of science and his take on different possible strategies (to
reconcile social practices and legal context?) for the scientific
communities (and their allies). And, as usual with Philippe Aigrain,
some funny and sharp comments on "*some* archaic countries" that have
database protection... "like European countries"...or "it's open
science or none" described with excellent examples...The sound and
image are not that great but it is really good!

Keynote 3: Philippe Aigrain
Philippe Aigrain (Sopinspace)
13 November 2008, University of D=FCsseldorf, Germany
quote:
Many promoters of open access see it as a means to do better what
would be an essentially unchanged scientific or technical research.
The talk will highlight how open access also changes the nature of
scientific publications and even of scientific work. It will describe
signs of change in how scientific papers are written, who reads them
and the impact on the organization of scientific communities. It will
position open access in the more general context of science commons,
and review the debates on open access priorities in this context.
