Would be really great to have an update from the A2K folks on new
developments, areas for cooperation etc at the iSummit :)
Dear friends,
iCommons is happy to announce the Call for submissions for this
year's iSummit in Sapporo, Japan. Please read the instructions, FAQs
and download the programme structure by going to: http://
www.icommons.org/isummit08/call-for-submissions/.
I think its a great improvement on last year's wiki-based call - and
James Cairns and a bunch of volunteers from the January workshop have
worked really hard in making this year's process much smoother, more
transparent and efficient. Thank you to them and those who have
started working on communal programme initiatives such as the Commons
Research participants and others.
The call is open until the end of March to submit your ideas for
presentation slots but we're also encouraging people to join one or
more of the related iSummit 'Lab' (track) lists below to discuss
community-wide activities and outcomes.
Open Education: A track dedicated to knowledge-sharing among open
education practitioners and the development of new global initiatives
to spread open educational tools, policies and practice to countries
around the world.
To connect with this lab's participants, join the mailing list at:
http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/icic
Creative Commons Japan: A Japanese-language track coordinated by the
ccJapan team to debate and discuss the commons in relation to Japan,
and to plan how to spread ideas about Free Culture and the Commons.
(Mailing list coming soon!)
Open Business: A track designed to both introduce newcomers to the
basic concepts of open business tools and practices such as the newly-
launched CC+ protocol as well as to collaborate on new global
initiatives that will further the goals of the open business community.
To connect with this lab's participants, join the mailing list at:

Commons research: A track dedicated to the 'First International
Research Workshop on Free Culture'. This lab will gather academics
and researchers who are interested in furthering scholarship in the
Commons and Free Culture, providing a space for them to share the
results of their work and develop ideas for further collaboration.
To connect with this lab's participants, join the mailing list at:

Local context global commons: A track that will showcase regional and
local approaches to the concept of Free Culture around the world -
and will highlight initiatives such as Wikipedia and Global Voices
that are developing innovative approaches to the localisation of
global projects.
