The International Seminar on Copyright, organized by the Brazilian Ministry
of Culture (MinC) in conjunction with the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO), took place from the 26th to 28th of November in Cear=
=E1.
The seminar was part of the National Copyright Forum, an initiative carried
out by MinC since December 2007 aiming at rethinking copyright in Brazil, i=
n
order to promote a greater balance between protection and access to
knowledge.

Many experts from various countries, including Brazil and Portugal, were
present at the event. Over 30 countries were represented by members from
both private initiative as well as public interest instances.

One of the most important panels was "Private Copies and Levies: The
International Experience".
