South Centre is looking for: Economist/Senior Economist and Research
Fellows
Economist/Senior Economist (P3/P4), Innovation and Access to Knowledge
Programme
The South Centre is an intergovernmental organization and think tank of
developing countries. It undertakes research and analysis, provides
negotiations support, and conducts workshops, training and capacity
building on wide-ranging issues including trade for development,
innovation and access to knowledge, and global governance for
development.
The Centre is now seeking to fill a position for Economist/Senior
Economist for its Innovation and Access to Knowledge Programme
(IAKP). The
IAKP is an interdisciplinary programme with objective of contributing to
the development, coordinated use and improvement of the capacities of
developing countries, including least-developed countries (LDCs), and
their institutions to pursue development-oriented innovation, access to
knowledge and intellectual property policies.
Brief responsibilities include, inter alia, to undertake the Programme=92s
economic research and policy analysis, including conceptualising,
designing, and managing research projects, preparing research papers;
participate in overall management of the programme and prioritise tasks
based on the work plan; organise and participate in key
intergovernmental
negotiations and discussions such as at the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO), World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Health
Organization (WHO) etc.
Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years post-masters analytical
experience and strong research record in international economics and
development issues, particularly in the areas of innovation, access to
knowledge and intellectual property. Country level and firm level
work is
required.
Only nationals of member countries of the Group of 77 and China are
eligible for this position.

Research Fellows, Innovation and Access to Knowledge Programme
The South Centre is also looking for two Research Fellows for the
Innovation and Access to Knowledge Programme (IAKP). The fellows
would be
working on public health and impact assessment related issues.
Only nationals of member countries of the Group of 77 and China are
eligible for these positions.
