Knowledge Acquisition and Sharing
Knowledge is the key to social and economic development. Its acquisition
and sharing has been going through dramatic changes because of rapidly
emerging ICTs and the societal transformations that they generate.
UNESCO works with its partners to develop long-term strategies to
efficiently harness the enormous potential of new communication and
information processes and technologies for developing new approaches to
knowledge acquisition and sharing. A major part of the work is to
develop approaches to effectively integrate these strategies into
forward looking and sustainable policy making. The ultimate goal is to
develop knowledge societies that are people-centred, inclusive and
development oriented.
UNESCO High Level Group of Visionaries on Knowledge Acquisition and Sharing
Visionaries from civil society, academia and the private sector are
gathering for a high level dialogue on the future of knowledge
acquisition and sharing on 23 June 2007 in Kronberg/Taunus, Germany.
