Fwd: [A2k] WIPO Broadcasting Treaty - and now for Webcasting

Two quick points:

1. The recommendation is for the WIPO General Assembly to postpone
the Diplomatic Conference until November/ December 2008 (not 2007 -
typo)

2. It was agreed at the 14th session of the SCCR in May 2006 that
webcasting would come out of the treaty.

The US delegation asked that if the General Assembly did not convene
a diplomatic conference at its 2006 meeting, webcasting should be
included in any new discussions on an instrument. That was supported
by the European Community, and opposed by at least one delegation.

It was not one of the formal conclusions of the 14th SCCR.
