8 August 2007 - Call for tender: "Assessment of the Economic and
Social impact of the Public Domain in the Information Society" was
published today in the Supplement to the Official Journal of the
European Union 2007/S 151-187363. The envisaged purpose of the
assessment is to analyse the economic and social impact of the public
domain and to gauge its potential to contribute for the benefit of
the citizens and the economy.

Time limit for receipt of requests for documents or for accessing the
documents: 26 September 2007 (16.00 h)

Time limit for receipt of tenders: 3 October 2007 (16.00 h)

Opening of the tenders: 12 October 2007 (10.30 h)

18 July 2007 - Access to Europe's cultural heritage should be made
much easier though the creation of the European digital library, the
EP's Committee on Culture and Education says in a report adopted on
Monday, 16 July 2007. It is backing a Commission plan to set up a
European digital library as a direct access point to the European
cultural heritage and stresses the importance of multilingual access
to the databases.
