ic interest international environmental law firm with offices in Washington=
 DC and Geneva, is seeking an Attorney to join its Geneva-based European Of=
fice to direct CIEL's Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Pro=
ject. The Attorney will join a team of lawyers and staff, including well-kn=
own experts in critical areas of international law, who are dedicated to us=
ing principles of ecology and justice to strengthen international environme=
ntal law, protect the global environment, and promote sustainable developme=

=09The Attorney will head CIEL's Project on Intellectual Property and Susta=
inable Development. S/he will be responsible, in cooperation with other sta=
ff, for the development of innovative solutions to legal and policy questio=
ns arising at the interface of international law relating to environment an=
d health, trade, and development, with a particular focus on the rules and =
institutions of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Intellectual =
Property Organization (WIPO), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food=
 and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Convention on Biological Diversity=
 (CBD), as well as regional and bilateral trade agreements, as they relate =
to intellectual property.

=09In particular, the Attorney will be responsible for:

=09=09=09*=09Providing advice and support to non-governmental organizations=
, government ministries and missions (especially from developing countries)=
, and intergovernmental organizations; and
=09=09=09*=09Monitoring and contributing to reform of intellectual property=
 rules in selected multilateral, regional and bilateral processes to ensure=
 evolving intellectual property standards appropriately balance private and=
 public interests and retain the necessary flexibility for countries to pur=
sue sustainable development objectives.

=09=09The requirements for the job include:

=09=09=09*=09A legal qualification, and preferably a masters in internation=
al law;
=09=09=09*=09Experience as an international lawyer, with substantial experi=
ence working on intellectual property law or issues;
=09=09=09*=09An ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clear a=
nd concise legal and policy advice;
=09=09=09*=09Leadership and advocacy skills, preferably demonstrated by pre=
vious experience, and a demonstrated commitment to the public interest;
=09=09=09*=09Experience in or with the Global South;
=09=09=09*=09Some management and programmatic experience; and
=09=09=09*=09Fluency in spoken and written English, and in a second languag=
e.

=09=09Salary range will be commensurate with experience. Entry into service=
 will be as soon as possible
=09=09.
