well ... I try not to change what people are used to read, but to
just be more accurate.
So, in writing or speaking, I do keep the word "protection", but I
apply it to the copyrights themselves, not to the copyrighted work.
The abuse is this linguistic short-circuit that talks about protecting
the work ... but maybe they mean protective custody. :-(
I objet "protecting a work"
I use "protecting the copyrights on a work"
and protecting copyrights is indeed a restriction on the rights of
others.
