[A2k] Current state of play of WIPO discussions on broadcasting, Development Agenda and the SPLT

1) Treaty on the Protection for Broadcasting Organizations:

Against the convening of a Diplomatic Conference in 2006: Iran (on
behalf of the Asian Group), Argentina (on behalf of the Friends of
Development minus Kenya/Ecuador),  and India.

For the convening of a Diplomatic Conference in 2006:  United States,
the European Communities and their Member States, Japan, Mexico, Kenya,
Ecuador,  Switzerland (on behalf of Group B), Morocco, Russian
Federation, Antigua and Barbuda (on behalf of the Caribbean countries),
Colombia, Ghana, Cameroon, Kazakhstan, Ukraine,  and Croatia.

There is still no consensus on this item and it will be the subject of
informal discussions starting at 7:15 PM (Geneva time).

2) Development Agenda and Substantive Patent Law Treaty (SPLT)

Similarly, the lines have been drawn in the Development Agenda and SPLT
discussions and will be the subject of informal consultations to flesh
out a consensus.

Ren Bucholz, Teresa Hackett and I will be providing blog notes from
yesterday's discussions of the broadcasting treaty and the development
agenda soon.
