At 43 rupees per dollar (for currency conversions, see (http://finance.yahoo.com/m3?u), I get these price comparisons
Prices for 3TC, lamivudine
Glaxo's Epivir in USA 150 mg, 60 tabs = $235.80 at Drugstore.com
150 mg 60 tabs = $262.00 wholesale price, according to a NYC pharmacy, Grove Drugs (today)
Glaxo Epivir in India....150 mg, 60 tabs = $114.42
CIPLA's Lamivir 150 mg , 60 tabs = $ 46.51
Note: Glaxo is not the inventor of 3TC. Emery, Yale and a Canadian firm have patents on 3TC for various uses, and there is lots of litigation over the patent rights.
Glaxo pays a 14 percent royalty to the Canadian firm for one of the patents.
