RE: Reducing Crime
Hi Laura;
You're right, and I agree with you about our sick advertising, our sick
movies, and our sick TV. I guess it says something that the likes of Jerry
Springer tops the ratings, or so I hear.
I think you are right about the gun issue. Then again, I've heard these
statistics that show that violent crime drops to nearly nothing in areas
where they permit people to carry a concealed weapon! Apparently the crooks
don't like people shooting back at them. I just can't see living like
that,...high noon at the OK Corral... but there are such advocates, and I
don't have the numbers to prove them wrong.
Now Laura...careful what you say about "pickup trucks"! I LOVE my F-150
(indeed, when I get him serviced, I inform the service people that while
"this truck may LOOK like just another shiny, black F-150 4x4, I want you
to know that 'El Toro' here is a very special friend." I know, it sounds
sick. But every one of the service guys to whom I've said that, has,
without fail, solemnly nodded their understanding and told me they would
take "good care" of "El Toro." ;-)) [No...I don't have a gun rack in the
back window! ;-) No...I don't have a 'dawg'...I've got two cats! ;-)]
At any rate, I'm torn on the 2nd amendment, gun-control issue.
You certainly are right about the "beautiful people" crap we are
bombarded with, day and night.
On the sexual predators, you wrote...

Sometimes I wonder if my wife isn't right on that one. Her solution: "Cut
their balls off!" (quote, unquote) Actually, she's a very sweet,
hard-working, law-abiding person, but when she hears about some act of
sexual predation, I usually have to unscrew her from the ceiling. She has
"zero tolerance" for it. I think when she was young she saw the results of
it with a close friend, and she never quite got over it. I must say, if
every would-be rapist KNEW that if caught and convicted, he would quite
literally "get his rocks off" ;-), I wonder if it wouldn't serve as a
deterrent?
Okay, sorry... it's late.
