Greg, did you know that in the '30s the Capitalist right wing - led
by the Morgan Bank - tried to set up an actual, no-kidding military
coup against FDR and the New Deal?   Their goal was a fascist state
in which Capital and Capitalism would be freed of all control.
They did make one mistake -- they tried to recruit the hugely-
popular Marine Corps hero Smedley Butler, who promptly blew the
whistle on them!   Of course, despite all the hoo-hah in the press
at the time, nothing ever happened to the plotters.   It  would have
been 'too disruptive'.  Just like ODESSA, US fascists take care of
their own.
