RE: Greg: E-Commerce: Benefit vs Risk

Dear Ed;

  Well, I don't think you are a lunatic. Not by any means. The question I
am asking is whether or not there is a viable way we can control the
protection of personal information in an electronic age. I don't think we
can stop the use of it for various e-commerce functions. Indeed, I like it.
I like PC banking and automatic deposits, credit cards, etc. So do tens of
millions of others. So, in that sense, I think, yes, "resistance is futile"
in stopping the proliferation of electronic commerce. But I don't think it
is futile to enact and enforce legislation to control the use of that
information.

  Do you agree, or do you think the whole e-commerce phenomenon can be
stopped in its tracks?

Best,
  --Greg
