This paper has a very large and missing component.  It mentions CORBA in
the context of HL7, but fails to note that international standards
are being produced by the CORBAmed taskforce (in cooperation with HL7,
CEN and others) for managing healthcare information.  More can be read
about this at http://www.omg.org/corbamed.  This includes a new
specification (still in review) for sophisticated management of security
and confidentiality so that access to portions of the medical record can
be managed (ultimately by the patient consent).
