B.A.T. To Acquire Controlling Interest In Zadar

LONDON -- British American Tobacco PLC (BTI) said Wednesday it has
acquired a controlling interest in Tvornica Duhana Zadar, a Croatian
tobacco business. 

BAT will initially invest DEM14.5 million in the company giving it a 80.5%
stake. 

The investment program will enable TDZ, which hasn't operated for the last
three years, to refurbish and upgrade its factory and restart production.
TDZ will manufacture BAT's international brands and new local brands.
