Electricity Restructuring Clearinghouse is Open!

  September 11, 1996

Public Citizen's Critical Mass Energy Project is pleased to
announce the opening of the Electricity Restructuring
Clearinghouse. The clearinghouse will provide citizens the
information they need to understand and debate the coming changes
in the electricity world. Currently we have posted the summary
to "Power for the People: A Public Interest Blueprint for
Electricity Restructuring", "Industry Views on Issues Raised by
the Public Interest Blueprint", relevant legislative bills in
Congress, and the Restructuring List Archives. Soon to be coming
is the Restructuring Tutorial and other Internet restructuring
sites. Please let us know of any restructuring sites you might
  already know of.

Electricity restructuring is quickly becoming the biggest
electricity debate on the national level. The next Congress
(105th) is likely to make it a top priority much like the
Telecommunications Act of 1996 was important to the 104th
Congress. Issues such as utility bailouts, consumer rights, and
  environmental impacts must be addressed.

We hope you find the clearinghouse useful and welcome any
  suggestions.
