Hello!
I'm looking for information on the effect of pH on dioxins, benzenes and
phenols. Do pH <2 or pH >12 influence the movement or binding of these
compounds?
The scenerio is the following: effluents from the Skookumchuck pulpmill
(BC, Canada) have been accumulating in a landfill for several decades. Now
the pulpmill has applied to change the Special Waste Regulations to not
include pH as Special Waste. An effluent is considered Special Waste if the
pH is <2 or >12. In this case it is. We're gathering information on the
effects of pH on pulpmill wastes to better be able to respond to the
proposal.
If you have contact names or references (scientific literature) that might
help me out, i'ld appreciate it. The sooner the better as this is
unraveling NOW.
Thanks,
paula
