DIOXIN STANDARD IN DRAINAGE WATER IS TO BE 10 PICOGRAM
TOKYO – The Environmental Agency is coming to conclude that a new
standard of dioxin concentration levels should be 10 picogram per one
liter of water that gets discharged from waste incinerating facilities
and other factories. The new standard is to take effect from January
2000. A 1999 survey revealed that close to 30% of waste incinerating
facilities had drained water that contained more than 10 picogram of
dioxin.
Asahi News:
(From January 2000 to January 2003 will provisionally be 50 picograms
dioxin per liter.)
