It's one thing to have a difference of opinion with someone. To question
both the data they use to support their argument and their ability to
interpret it. But, and this is only my opinion, when you only resource is to
be insulting and launch personal attacks. I think it speaks to your lack of
ability to present a rational argument. Try raising the standard of your
rhetoric.
I want to make it clear how inappropriate it was that you copied and
butchered an email I sent to you personally. Added to the fact that I made
it clear to you that I was having difficulties replying directly to the
list. (problem solved!) You hacked away at what I said to present yourself
in a good light knowing I had no recourse. How very brave of you!
So let me again be clear, and this time in public....I never once said that
dioxin wasn't a nasty chemical, not once. I work with the stuff and I can
tell you I am very aware of what it does....Jon, my point about how dioxins
are assessed (TEQ's and their limitations) is one that is widely accepted
throughout the scientific field. Even by those who use them on a daily
basis.
So perhaps, in future, we can discuss rationally the many interesting, often
contentious aspects of this area, without your insulting either my
intelligence or my morality. One more thing to add....as my mentor is often
heard to say....There's a difference between ignorance and stupidity.
