New Study Concludes that Dioxin is a Known Carcinogen

A new study confirms that dioxin is a known human carcinogen:

NIOSH study of chemical workers bolsters data on dioxin as cancer agent.

The analysis by Kyle Steenland and coworkers at NIOSH concludes thatt chemical workers exposed to high leves of dioxin have a  60% increased risk of dying of cancer compared with the general population and a higher rate of heart disease when compared with workers exposed to lower levels of dioxin.

Don't you think its strange the dioxin contamination should cost the
country so much if its really true, as industry and supporters of
incineration have been claiming for years, that: "no-one ever died from
dioxin"?
Earlier this year Professor Dame Barbara Clayton, a greatly respected
member of numerous influential government committees, gave evidence to
the House of Lords on Waste Incineration saying the worst thing caused
by dioxin is chloracne "a nasty skin complaint." 

Perhaps she should have contacted the Belgium government with her view,
or perhaps she would like to consume some of the contaminated produce to
back up her words, after all what is a bit of acne at her age?

It is through misleading people like her that Britons now face an uphill
battle against the building of 160 odd incinerators.
