DIOXIN MEASUREMENTS ARE NOT PRECISE
TOKYO – The Environmental Agency conducted a survey of the reliability
of measuring devices and methods of dioxin concentration levels during
the last fiscal year. The survey of 64 companies revealed that the same
samples of air and soil had produced different results.
By making one the average of concentration levels in the case
of air samples, four companies came up with a level of 0.5 and three
companies with a level of 1.5. In the case of soil samples, two
companies had results of 0.5, three companies had results of 2.0, and
five companies had results of more than 5.0. The agency also discovered
18 cases of miscalculation. It is going to hold a seminar this fall for
companies to measure precisely.
