I think the whole story is a sham, planted in Gates' hometown paper as a trial
balloon: MS wants to see how the winds of public opinion and DoJ's willingness
to settle early are blowing.  Remember they did the same thing before the case
went to trial.

But the bottom line is that Gates will not give up the farm willingly and the
DoJ is not going to settle for the henhouse.

Talks of a settlement?  Nope.  You don't need to settle with a condemned man.
You just need to execute him.
