Re: Censorship of the AM-INFO list
First I'm sorry that this action became necessary, but
it was necessary.
Perhaps a code of conduct should established to prevent such
problems in the future.
It is not censorship to establish a discussion group, yet demand
certain standards for the discussion.
The final authority of such a discussion group rests with its organizer.
Jamie has been more than fair with Brett, perhaps others of us as well.
For what it's worth, I had decided to unsubscribe to the list and was
debating whether or not to announce it or just do it. I would prefer
to remain, but I really think it's time to demand certain standards
of conduct and reason from the members. No more ad homin attacks,
when asked a question provide an answer. If you screw up on something
admit it. Is that too much to ask?
To illustrate what I'm referring to, compare exchanges with Eric Bennet
who never resorts to personal attacks and always responds to questions
and requests for clarification, and say other persons who
simply attack the motivations and credibility of the one asking
questions (I may have to include myself in that list). I do not
wish to place Eric on too high a pedestal, or myself and some
others in the gutter, I simply wish to establish a level of
interaction which I believe is well illustrated by Eric's conduct.
Sorry to use you as an example Eric. I chose you because i've
has dissagreements with you which because it seems that though
dissagree with me at times you have done so such that I don't
feeling badly afterwards.
Nothing on this list is so important that we should be using
all the guns in our arsenal to defeat another person.
Is such a goal desirable to others as well?
