And I think the aromatic rings also are the most
stable configuration of active carbon and hydrogen
atoms/radicals so the hotter the temperatures of the burn
the more efficient the production of the precursors
of aromatic rings, etc. And cooler burns don't
effectively destroy the rings in the first place.

"My understanding of what is known about this is that aromatic carbon
emissions are recombined with chlorine while in the stack gases, and that
often a hot catalytic converter increases this recombination. Dioxins (2
oxygens between the benzene rings), furans (1 oxygen) and PCBs (no oxygen)
are formed.
