	What can *you* do to resist efforts to monopolize 
        Web publishing standards?  One possibility is to 
        participate in Cari Burstein's "Best Viewed with 
        Any Browser" campaign.

	Cari Burstein, a 22 year old web publisher, found herself annoyed at
campaigns to force consumers to use particular browsers to view Web
content, which she found contrary to the spirit upon which the Internet
was developed in the first place.  And, she did something about it.  Her
"Best Viewed with Any Browser" campaign is slowly catching on, among web
page operators who support open standards for Web publishing. The center
piece of the campaign is a small icon with a message, and a link to
http://www.anybrowser.org/campaign (no period).  Cari created a small
attractive icon which says "best viewed any browser," but she has asked
Internet users to create their own alternatives, which emphasize similar
themes, including "browser freedom now," "content enhanced, use any
freakin browser," "just view it," "best viewed with a computer and a
monitor," and many others -- 162 and counting, she says.  The

lots of links and info, including this quote:

     "Anyone who slaps a 'this page is best viewed with 
     Browser X' label on a Web page appears to be yearning 
     for the bad old days, before the Web, when you had very 
     little chance of reading a document written on another 
     computer, another word processor, or another network."
