Landfill and Illness
Can anybody help me please? I am trying to establish the distribution of
illnesses pictorially on a map of the area around the landfill site at United
Mines, Redruth Cornwall England. We know we have a high level of asthma,
cancers, infant mortalities and deformities - higher than the national and
Cornish levels. Where would i access the information that shows the
distribution of illnesses in cluster form geographically? Cornwall Health
Authority have not been collecting this kind of data and find it difficult to
supply info. based upon postcodes.
Furthermore the present landfill - unlined is owned by County Environmental
Services an in-house company of Cornwall County Council. Their planning
application fell at the first hurdle due to insufficient information so they
have been given a second bite of the cherry by the county council - their
lords and masters. Smell a rat? We locals certainly do as well as the ones
infesting houses within 500 metres of the present site.
A public meeting has been called for Monday night where the local people will
have their say. CES have played dirty by paying for a full page spread in the
local newspaper - we the local action group have not been given the same
opportunities and we do not have the money for such luxuries. Shades of
Rachel 613#?
Any help or advice from anybody would be greatly appreciated. Even if this
mail is distributed as wide as possible it would be a help.
