"Uptake from Soil ...While the early liter. was quite contradictory
[6], in the late 1980's McCrady & coworkers succeeded in clearly
demonstating that root uptake/translocation is not relevant for the
accumulation of 2,3,7,8-Cl4DD in bean & maize plants [7]. this finding was
confirmed for grasses & a range of other species in later papers [8-13].
the only exceptions to date are several plants of the genus cucurbita which
readily take up PCDD/F's in soil & translocate them to the leaves & fruit
[14]."
