New Journal Available (fwd)

A limited number of free copies of a new journal, the Journal of Latin
American Competition Policy, are available to those who are interested
in international competition policy. The issue carries the papers
presented at the October 1998 International Competition Policy Conference
hosted by the Panamanian Competition Agency in Panama City, Panama.
Presenters were practitioners, academics and officials of the competition
agencies of the Americas, including the DOJ and FTC. Some of the
papers are in Spanish.

Although the latest issue was produced in hardcopy, normally the Journal
of Latin American Competition Policy is an independent online specialized
review dedicated to competition policy topics, including antitrust,
intellectual property, consumer protection, antidumping and related
topics. It can be found at WWW.JLACOMP. ORG. Papers are posted in
English, Spanish or Portugese. Within the next year, the Journal hopes to
regularly be produced in hardcopy format (in addition to maintaining its
virtual site).

The JLACOMP's aim is to provide a forum for critical commentary and
discussion on competition policy topics throughout the Americas. It fills
a critical need unavailable to the new competition policy regimes recently
adopted in most Latin American countries: a forum for learned discussion.
As you may know, before these competition policy initiatives were
implemented by Latin American countries, they had practically no
experience with antitrust and related competition policy topics.
There is also very little literature and jurisprudence on the matter. Thus
the need for and purpose of the JLACOMP.

The JLACOMP 's readers are practitioners, students, scholars and agency
officials throughout the world. It's Advisory Board consists of
competition policy specialists, including several well known scholars and
esteemed colleagues such as Professors Bill Kovacic, Bob Lande, Bill Page
and Spencer Waller.

If you would like to obtain a courtesy copy, please send an email with your
snailmail address to A.E. Rodriguez (armando.rodriguez@us.pwcglobal.com).
We plan to ship the copies during the second week of January, 1999.

Again, we have only a limited number of copies available so they will be
distributed on a first come basis. This Special Edition of the JLACOMP
will also appear on our web site by the end of January.

Thank you,
Armando Rodriguez
