MS Visual C++ and MSIE

I've received a number of similar letters regarding MS's development
tools.   Jamie

A friend recently purchased a copy of the professional version of MS
Visual C++. I watched the installation and found it interesting that
the install program requires that the user first install MS Internet
Explorer before it will proceed to install C++. The choices are install
IE or exit.

This is a pretty outrageous example, since there is no argument that IE
is required to compile a C program. Microsoft may have made it
impossible to read the help and support documents without IE, but the
user should at least be able to install his tools without the browser.
