I've not had any problems with asp files, so I wouldn't be concerned
with them crashing your machine.  What version of Netscape are you
running?

Did you try killing X with the ctrl-alt-backspace sequence?  Did you try
to switch to one of your virtual terminals (ctrl-alt-f3)?

One of the things you should try before the reset button is to telnet
into your machine, su to root and shutdown.  It could be that it was
your X server that was locked up.  If you don't have another machine to
telnet in from, call a good friend you trust to attempt the same.  If
they are successful, log back in and change your root password. :)
