The floppy disk version of Windows 95, as well as the Windows 95 upgrade I
received
immediately after release, did not include Internet Explorer. The Plus Pack
did, as
did the CD-ROM version of Windows 95. Microsoft managed to get most hardware
OEMs to license the Plus Pack, so most new computers (not all!) began shipping
with MSIE installed.
