The chairman of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee said Thursday
afternoon that he will ask the Department of Justice to broaden its case
in the wake of further allegations of anti-competitive practices levied
against Microsoft Corp. by rivals this morning.

"If the Justice Department doesn't broaden their suit against
Microsoft, there's something wrong with Justice," said Sen. Orrin
Hatch (R-Utah) following a 2 1/2-hour hearing on competition in the
software industry. "This is not the last hearing. I challenge everyone
with an allegation to come forward. If it takes 10 hearings, that will be
fine."

Just add it to Windows. Want to control the Internet? Just add it to
Windows. Everyone has to buy Windows," Ellison said.

Windows 98 is not the first product Microsoft has botched, nor will it be
the last. But it is the last straw. . . . Users who do install it do so at
their own risk, and IS departments are not offering support.
