Papows joins list invited to Senate hearing

Oracle CEO Larry Ellison will be among the CEOs testifying later this week
in hearings focusing on Microsoft's business practices, th eSenate
Judiciary committee said Monday. Sybase CEO Mitchell Kertzman will join
Ellison, a critic of Microsoft, at hearings Thursday called by U.S. Sen.
Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), chairman of the Senate Judiciary committee, to look
at competition and innovation in the Digital Age.

Jeff Papows, CEO of software maker Lotus based in Cambridge,  Mass., will
also testify, the Judiciary committee said.

"These companies are testifying because they are being encroached by
Microsoft," said Ken Wasch, president of the Software Publishers
Association, a trade association of almost 2,000 members including
Microsoft.

But no Bill Gates.  Interesting, since another article reported that Gates
would most definitely be invitied.

We don't think we should have to ask permission [from Microsoft] every
time we want to make some minor software modification.  Windows is an
operating system, not a religion.
