Compaq contract with MS forces employees to run MSIE

According to this week's Spencer Katt column at

(note: link good for this week only!), Compaq has a contract with Microsoft
requiring all of its internal users to run MSIE 4.x. Unfortunately, now
that Compaq has acquired Digital, there's a problem: there's no version of
MSIE for DEC workstations, so all Digital employees will have to go without
Web browsers (or, at the very least, be cut off from the company's internal
Web sites).

The fact that Compaq would stand for this says a lot about Microsoft's
absurd power over PC hardware OEMs.
